Based in Orange County, California, drummer Jay Smith draws inspiration from his former teachers, including Glen Sobel, the late Jim Chapin, and Chuck Flores. After completing the P.I.T. program in Los Angeles, Jay leveraged his skills by writing and recording music for various morning shows on KROQ. He was also selected to take over drumming for American Idol finalist Matt Rogers. Jay's extensive touring experience includes supporting renowned acts like Iron Maiden, Queensryche, Rob Halford Band, Blink 182, Green Day, and Jimmy Eat World, with performances featured on MTV. Additionally, he contributed a song to HBO’s "Gangland" and made appearances on Fox Sports and in the MTV documentary "Riding in Vans with Boys." He can also be seen performing live on the Facedown Fest DVD. Jay has collaborated with Southern California's theatrical group 'Me and the Captain' and L.A.'s 'Fangs on Fur,' who recently returned from a tour in Germany promoting their latest album. Other playing credits include Cruise ship performances, Musical Theater and Studio work. Currently, Jay dedicates much of his time to teaching and performing across the country.
